Happy Friday! Quick HIstory Lesson and Thoughts: Wildemann and Bigfoot

Quick History Lesson: Wildemann, a small German mining town, has a legend of miners encountering a "wild man" and "wild woman" (think Bigfoot) at the exact site of later-rich silver ore deposits. The wild man was shot with arrows and died.  His capture site yielded silver veins that drew miners. The story lives on in Wildemann's coat of arms and historic silver coins, both featuring "Wild Man" imagery.

Could the legend of a wild man leading miners to rich ore deposits have been a fabricated story by desperate nobility to entice workers and legitimize renewed mining efforts in Wildemann?

Here's what I sense:  The timing and drama looks like a propaganda campaign designed by the ruling class to spark a mining boom. The terrain was difficult and mining is a dangerous job, so they needed something to entice people there.  The town was slowly dying, so they creating this tale.  I even suspect people were paid to play the part of these “wild people” all dressed in fur and lurking in the woods to create the illusion of something mystical guarding the wealth below. After all, what better way to lure workers into harsh conditions than a promise of supernatural fortune?

The strategy worked. Not only did people come, but the myth endured for centuries. Wildemann still displays the wild man on its coat of arms, and old silver coins even feature Bigfoot type of motifs.

As a side note, in much older posts I discussed Bigfoot, which I DO sense to be real.  The REAL Bigfoot in interdimensional, and WAY TOO intelligent to be shot or caught. The story was plausible until it was stated he was shot with an arrow and killed.  Also, what about wild woman?  This indeed was a tall tale, but effective in getting people back to working their local mines.

Happy Friday!

Much Love, Lynn

  1. I stayed at a "Wilderman Inn" at Achaffenberg Germany years ago and it seemed the lore of Sasquatch in the country of the Black Forest is taken seriously at least as passed down legend.
