Root canals are often presented as a way to “save” a badly infected tooth, but many biological dentists and researchers argue they’re one of the worst procedures in modern dentistry offers. During a root canal, the dentist removes the infected pulp and nerve, then fills and seals the empty canals. The problem is that teeth have miles of microscopic tubules (up to three miles in a single molar) that no disinfectant can fully sterilize. Dead teeth become a perfect breeding ground for highly toxic bacteria that continue to leak powerful neurotoxins into the bloodstream for years or decades. These trapped bacteria and their toxins have been linked (via DNA testing of extracted root-canaled teeth) to chronic fatigue, autoimmune diseases, heart disease, arthritis, and even cancer in distant parts of the body through a phenomenon called focal infection theory.
As always, do your research.
Much Love, Lynn
