A. The tragic deaths of Rob and Michele Reiner at the hands of their son Nick came as a surprise. People that knew Nick were familiar with his long battle against addiction, and sadly weren't too shocked at how dark things turned. Nick's struggles are well-documented and discussed. He entered his first rehab at age 15, went through around 18 treatment programs as a teenager, battled heroin and other hard drugs, and even endured periods of homelessness in states like Maine, New Jersey, and Texas after refusing further rehab. He openly shared these experiences, co-writing the 2015 "semi" autobiographical film Being Charlie with his father, which depicted the chaos of addiction and strained family ties.
