Food Used to be Food

If you stop and really look around your kitchen, how many items in your cupboards are truly single ingredient foods? We are far from the kind of eating that sustained humanity for thousands of years.  Real food needed no label because it was just… food.

Meat should be meat. Vegetables should be vegetables. Bread should be nothing more than flour, yeast, egg, honey, salt, and water. That’s it. No “conditioners,” no “natural flavors” that aren’t actually natural, no preservatives you cannot pronounce.  Many scan labels without a second thought, tossing products in their carts. We’ve normalized it so much that many people crave food that's been engineered, flavored, colored, or preserved. 

Maybe it’s time we asked ourselves what happened to our food?
