Q. Lynn, I would love if you did a post on mushrooms like Lions Mane for the brain, etc. There is so much conflicting info. Is it ok or bad to eat “fungus?”
A. Lion’s Mane, Reishi, Turkey Tail, Cordyceps and Chaga are all nature's powerhouses. [When consuming ALWAYS triple-check that you know what you are eating via apps, field guides, etc].
Anything that grows wild, costs pennies, and supports your brain (hello Lion’s Mane), immune system (Reishi), energy, and inflammation without a prescription label doesn’t generate billions for Big Pharma. Their solution is to slap the “fungus = scary” label on it and watch the confusion spread.
The reality is eaten in moderation, these mushrooms are medicinal, therapeutic, and have been used safely for thousands of years across cultures. Your body recognizes them. Your brain loves them. Your wallet stays happy.
Nature already did the R&D—eat the mushrooms.
There is nothing to fear but fear itself.-FDR
