Most dogs don’t need the canine flu shot or frequent boosters. According to major veterinary guidelines, these are “non-core” vaccines recommended only for high-risk situations like frequent boarding or outbreaks. For the average pet (like a house/lap dog), they offer little benefit while adding potential immune stress. The simplest fix for many common dog problems such as itching, ear infections, digestive issues, and low energy is usually found in their food bowl.
Switching from processed kibble to a higher-quality diet usually resolves symptoms for countless pets without ongoing prescriptions. By questioning blanket recommendations and prioritizing nutrition first, we can give our dogs truly better health instead of just more treatments.
What small change has helped your dog the most? I said no to unnecessary shots and have always fed my pets food that high protein and grain free. (You are allowed to decline and question treatments at the vet).
Much Love, Lynn
