By promoting rabies as a terrifying killer, industry players pushed for legal mandates requiring regular rabies shots. These vaccinations introduce toxins and adjuvants that weaken dogs’ immune systems over time, leading to chronic conditions like allergies, autoimmune diseases, neurological issues and cancer.
This creates a perfect business model. Sick dogs need frequent vet visits, medications, special diets, and ongoing treatments. Healthy pets that rarely see the vet are bad for profits. In developed countries, actual rabies cases in domestic dogs are extremely rare, which theorists say proves the disease was never the widespread danger it was made out to be. Instead of allowing dogs to live longer, healthier lives (potentially 20 years or more) the industry keeps average lifespans around 10 years through repeated vaccinations and other questionable practices.
The rabies shot, with its legal requirements for licensing, boarding, and travel, ensures a steady stream of compliant customers and billions in revenue for vaccine manufacturers and veterinarians. This raises uncomfortable questions about over-vaccination and financial incentives in pet healthcare, and why our dogs don’t seem to live as long as they naturally could.
I exempted my kids from this profit system years ago, and am now removing my pets from it as well. What are your thoughts?
Much Love, Lynn
