Last Sunday, a powerful moment at church shifted my perspective on prayer and the complexities of tragedy. When a woman requested prayer for the Kirk family that was devastated by recent events, my heart like many went out to them. She then called to also pray for the shooter which caught me off guard. Initially, I hadn’t considered him, but her words sparked a realization. This young man, raised in a conservative home, who was radicalized by extreme ideologies, became a pawn in a larger, destructive scheme. His actions were a result of the mental manipulation and demons walking among us. The virus of hate and manufactured violence sweeping over us has to STOP.
As I prayed, my focus expanded beyond the immediate victims. I prayed for schools to be cleansed of teachers and professors pushing divisive propaganda, for our impressionable youth to be protected, and for self-serving political figures to be removed from power. I prayed for demonic forces to be rebuked, for mental illness to be addressed rather than exploited, and for God’s presence to return to our daily lives.
This tragedy, like many, isn’t just about one act. It’s about the deeper societal failures that led us here. The synagogue of Satan, as the Bible warns, is at work, creating chaos and division. We must pray not only for those directly harmed but for the root causes like ideological extremism, unchecked mental illness, and the erosion of faith in public life. This moment taught me that prayer should be addressing both the obvious victims and the broken systems that enable such tragedy. Pray with open eyes, seeking God’s guidance to restore truth, healing, and faith in our nation. We need Him now more than ever.
Please take a moment to pray for the Kirk family. While you take that moment also focus on binding, rebuking and sending the evil forces that are trying to consume this world back to where they came from.
Much Love,
Lynn
